Packaging’s “Value Web”
The traditional packaging Value Chain is evolving to the Collaborative Value Web, as inputs get more complex. That insight comes from early work on the PTIS Future of Packaging 2010 program. The traditional value chain started with the packaging supplier and ended with the consumer. The collaborative value web extends back to raw material “harvesting” and forward to end-of-life issues. Here’s ways packaging managers can deal with the value web.
- Know it is complex and look for ways to simplify.
- Learn what issues partners immediately up and down the chain face.
- Look for external resources to deliver new solutions.
